The Perfect June Wedding

Bal and Flor Wedding
Photography by:
Paloma Photography
June has been traditionally believed as the most popular month for weddings.

The history of weddings being celebrated on June started as far back as the Roman times when the people believed in the Roman gods and goddesses. The people then celebrated Juno, wife of Jupiter and the goddess of marriage and childbirth, and believed she would bring fortune and happiness to those who will be married on her month. More importantly in countries located far above the equator, June also signified the start of warm season. Getting married during those time would mean that children conceived by these unions would be born on the next spring. The probability of life would be greater for the baby.

In the Philippines, June would be the end of the summer season where the weather will not be too hot as it welcomes the season of rains. While you can opt for an outdoor wedding  like a garden venue for your reception, be wary of the weather. Rain may come and it is best that you provide tents to avoid getting wet. Flowers abundant during this month are lilies, daisies, carnations and roses. Popular colors are yellow, green, pink and lilac.
Be aware also that the weather may turn cool so it is best to have fashionable wraps for the bride and her bridesmaids. More importantly, wear something you're comfortable with. Serve a wedding buffet that offers hot and cold items. Don't forget to incorporate seasonal fruits and cool wedding cocktails.

To perfectly execute your dream June wedding, you can ask wedding professionals to help you out. Here's a list of the newest members of Kasal.com's family of wedding suppliers:

Hot Summer Wedding Ideas

Summer is a nice season to have your wedding.

With the warm weather, you can't go wrong with a beach or garden wedding. You can have your outdoor wedding where you get to take your vows under the shade of the setting sun. Bright sunny colors like yellow, blue, green, lilac etc. are best match for your beach/garden wedding. You can also incorporate local flowers or beach items on your designs and table centerpieces.

We recommend wearing something cool and light like an elegant slip dress for the bride and khakis and buttoned shirt for the groom. They may not look that formal but they'd be perfect for your summer wedding.

Make your wedding feast bountiful with fresh fruits and produce. Refreshing wedding drinks  would also be loved by your guests.

There are lot of things you can do on your summer wedding, all you need to do is set your creative minds and venture into something unique yet feasible. Here are some ideas you can use to plan your perfect summer wedding:

Barong Tagalog in Colorful Hues

In the Philippines, Barong Tagalog is the traditional Filipino formal wear for men. It is usually made of piña or jusi- two native fabrics. The barong was popularized as formal wear by Philippine President Ramon Magsaysay, who wore it to most official and personal affairs, including his inauguration as president.

These days, some have shifted from the conventional white and plain Barong Tagalog to black tuxedo/formal suit. In striving to keep the Filipino tradition alive, some of the country's wedding designers incorporated colors and designs to give the Barong Tagalog a fresh, modern image.

Below are samples of modern take to the Barong Tagalog:

Tips in Making the Bachelor/ Bachelorette Party Fun-filled

Are you a close friend of a soon-to-be groom/bride and you want to plan a fab party for them before they march down the aisle?  Below are some helpful tips in organizing the bachelor/bachelorette party. If your time doesn't allow you to plan one, seek help from professional wedding planners and rest assured that the party will be handled well.

Featured Wedding Planner:
House of Brides
Category: Wedding Planners in Cebu
1. Know about the groom/bride's personality. In planning the party, it is suggested that you include the groom/ bride' s personality. It will be then easier to think of a theme and decorations for the party.

2. Get acquainted with the groom/bride's friends. If you still don't know the right people to invite for the party, you can ask the groom/bride's parents. Get their contact details (mobile number, land line, email address etc.) so that it will be easier to contact and update them about the plans. Seek also their suggestions. You can mix their suggestions for a more fun and exciting party.

3. Make the date, time and venue flexible. Make sure everyone can attend especially the bride and the groom.  Make sure also that the venue you select will be agreeable to everyone. You can hold it in a restaurant, hotel or one of the friends/relatives' place.

4. Set a budget. Everything you avail for the party should be within a budget. Before you decide where to do for the party and what activities will be done, inform the guests about the budget.

5. Create exciting and fun-filled games. The games should not be out of the picture. They should be exciting, fun and can be played by everyone. Ask everyone's suggestions and maybe you can come up with an interesting mixture of them.

6. Come up with appealing prizes for the games. This will add more enthusiasm from the guests.

7. Make it a unique party. Make it so that the guests especially the bride/groom will not forget it and remember the party you created with a happy feeling. Include something that the soon-to-be groom/bride is not expecting or hasn't experienced yet.

Remember that it is supposedly the groom/ bride's last bachelor/ bachelorette party so why not make it unforgettable?

Beyond the Traditional White Bridal Gown

Pale brown wedding gown
by Edward Teng Couture
Before white became the traditional color of the wedding gown, different colors were worn by brides all over the world. White became popular after Queen Victoria upon marrying Prince Albert in 1840 wore a white gown for their wedding. However, many traditional wedding attires are still used nowadays for certain reasons. The Chinese, Indians and Vietnamese wear red colored wedding gowns to attract happiness and good luck.  The Koreans wear multicolored wedding gowns that represent many things like heaven, earth and mankind. In the Philippines, Baro't saya for women and Barong Tagalog for men were considered traditional wedding attires in  Central Luzon and still, many wear these attires on their wedding due to their elegance and uniqueness.

If you have decided to veer away from the conventional color white wedding dress and would like to look vibrant in different color(s) on your wedding day, here are some points to consider:

Determine your skin tone. There are color types that will complement your skin color. Make sure you choose the color that is suitable to it and will further enhance your complexion. Wearing something good on you will make you more beautiful on your wedding day.

Stick to your wedding theme and color story. Don't detach yourself from your chosen wedding theme but instead, wear a color that goes with it. This doesn't mean though that you should have a wedding gown which has a color same as the reception table clothing or with your bridesmaids. Choose a hue of your theme color that is distinct from the rest or say something that will make you more vibrant than the rest. For example, if you choose fuschia as the color of your wedding gown, why not make your bridesmaids wear light pink.

Consider the summer and location of your wedding.  If you are to marry on a summer and on a beach venue, consider wearing something light (in color) like yellow, lilac, light pink etc. During holiday seasons like Christmas, you might want to consider wearing bold colors.
Red, white and purple gowns
by Alexis Gowns & Photography
Make sure your wedding gown projects an aura you want. Say, red projects boldness, black conveys an air of elegance and sophistication, pink projects romantic mood, blue projects peace and tranquility, yellow projects cheery mood while green conveys optimism and harmony.

Be confident to wear the color you want. Make sure that you really like the color you have chosen. As they say, the secret to a beautifully worn dress is on how one carries it. Wear any color that your heart desires and be proud of it or rather love it as if it is the main reason you are the most beautiful on your wedding day.
Pink gown
by Susie Bonaobra

When you have chosen your gown's color, you can now choose your wedding accessories and bridal bouquet. Don't choose colors that will create a great contrast on your gown if you don't want them to become eye sores. For example, bright blue and orange don't go along. But be careful also that it won't be too monotonous and boring. A mixture of red-orange, lime and yellow flowers for an orange gown or soft pink pearls match to a pale pink dress will make a quite interesting picture.

If you want to see more colors on your wedding day, don't hesitate to add more. Just make sure you'll love the colors.

Henry Pascual: A Decade of Wedding Glam

Henry Pascual celebrated his tenth year in the wedding industry last April 23, 2012 in Dusit Thani, Manila. This nationally-renowned event stylist has been the artist behind many weddings and event masterpieces. Exhibiting never-before seen wedding set collections, Sir Henry humbly recollected how he started out in his career and bloomed in full glam.

His Stepping Stones

The master, Henry Pascual
"As an event stylist, you
have to think
of a total production"
The brilliant stylist shared that as a kid, he made fun of his parents’ wedding photos. He described the wedding set-ups before as very stereotypical and generic. Even at such a young age, he already had an idea that  somehow, he wanted to improve the way weddings are being celebrated. But he does not want to be tagged as a florist.

“Before, kapag ikaw ang nag-aasikaso ng wedding set-up and decorations, florist ka na agad.”
Sir Henry recounted that brides normally dominate the prevailing wedding themes, but he wanted to add to that femininity an elegant look.

Sir Henry graduated with a degree in Advertising, major in Fine Arts at the University of Santo Tomas. His classmates mentioned that even before, they have already figured out that he will create a prolific name in the country as he consistently marked his works with excellence and originality. Later on, he became the visual artist consultant and director of the clothing retail shop, Cinderella. It took him a while before he realized that he should start channeling his passion towards the Philippine wedding industry.

Becoming the Philippine Wedding Trend Setter

But things did not start out well. “At first, I have had difficulty marketing my job. Hindi nila alam kung ano ang ‘event stylist’. One time when I introduced myself as an event stylist, someone answered “So you do hair and makeup?” And I jokingly answered ‘pati foot spa’”, he recalled. Those were the times when Henry Pascual had to shell out a lot of resources and think of ways to create his position in the wedding industry.”As an event stylist, you have to think of a total production,” he added.

See Henry Pascual photo gallery...
After some time, however, everybody from the status quo followed the trail that Sir Henry has been doing. The term ‘event styling’ became an officially known wedding career but the challenge does not stop there. “Event styling involves refined details, right execution, and timeless themes. I always see to it that my work is non-standard, kailangan laging may bago; you should always have a strategy and strong presence,” he said.

What is the source of Henry Pascual’s hallmark inspirations and ideas? A self-confessed daydreamer, Sir Henry loves watching visual fantasy films such as The Chronicles of Narnia and Harry Potter. Being very detail-oriented, he enjoys creating look books and storyboards where he places a collage of different beautiful objects. “I got it from my training in Retail Store, whenever we think of launching new collection designs. I often double-check my works and even ask my artistic friends for constructive criticisms,” he admitted.

Having already achieved a lot of milestones in life, Henry Pascual still has a lot of dreams in mind. For those who also aspire to be an event stylist, he remarked, “Never stop dreaming. Dapat laging may challenge. Once you become contented, you’ll stop growing.” Sir Henry will be coming up with loads of surprises for all wedding enthusiasts in the coming years. So watch out for another decade of wedding glamour from Henry Pascual!
